3D Cards - Optional Feature
This game uses Microsoft's Direct 3D for most video cards or
Glide for 3Dfx compatible video cards to support
3D hardware acceleration.
It has been tested on many but not all of the major cards
incorporating the chipsets listed below.
Chipsets tested as of product release:
3Dfx Voodoo Graphics,
3Dfx Voodoo Banshee,
3Dfx Voodoo 2,
3Dfx Voodoo 3,
Number 9,
Nvidia Riva 128 and TNT,
Permedia 2,
ATI Rage Pro and 128GL,
Matrox G200 and G400.
Resolution
Some video cards may allow you to change to 1024 X 768
or 1280 x 1024 resolution even though the card itself
does not have enough memory to run in that resolution.
Your game will not run when you drop into the real-time mode.
If you encounter this problem, limit your resolutions to
640 x 480 or 800 x 600.
Also, you may need a very fast CPU (Pentium III 500 or higher)
to run in resolutiuons above 800 X 600 as the framerate may be too low.
If you feel that the framerate is unacceptable try lowering the
resolution.
You can use the chart below to guide you.
RESOLUTION MIN. VIDEO MEMORY CPU
640 X 480 4 MB Pentium II 233
800 X 600 8 MB Pentium II 300
1024 X 768 8 MB Pentium II 450
1280 X 1024 16 MB Pentium III 500
Known Issues
The Integraph Intense 3D video card (3Dfx Voodoo Rush) does
not work in D3D Accelerated or 3Dfx (Glide) modes.
This will be fixed in the final version of Killer Loop.
The ATI Rage Pro video card does not work at resolutions over 640X480.
This will be fixed in the final version of Killer Loop.
Using a Matrox G200 might cause re-alignment of icons on your
desktop after quitting.
If it does, right click on your desktop and select
auto-arrange icons.
If you press Alt-Tab while racing in D3d Accelerated mode,
and attempt to Alt-Tab back into it,
the graphics may be severly corrupted.
If you are using a Voodoo Banshee video card, do not alt-tab within a
race. This will cause your computer to crash.
Audio might cut out at resolutions lower than 640X480
when using a sound card with a Crystal PnP CS4232 Sound chipset.
The maximum playable resolution for a Voodoo 1 card is 640X480.
In order to use a third mouse button, your windows mouse software
must be running and the button assigned as a middle or 3rd button
within the software.
Video Card Drivers
Most video problems occur because the latest drivers for the
video card in use have not been installed.
You can download these drivers from the Internet.
